For study and reflection, personally or with family, friends or your small group:
To help you get started, this week, you’ll pay close attention to the kinds of things that you find yourself waiting for. Make a list of at least 15-20 things that you find yourself waiting for. Then, write a word or phrase describing how you felt as you waited for those things (Be ready to talk through this list if you’re doing this with others).
How have you seen the themes of home, exile, and return in your own life? What season (home, exile, return) are you currently in? Why?
Read Luke 1. Make a list of all of the various people who waited, as well as what they waited for. What might you learn from them?
Review that same list from Luke 1 (above). How was obedience required? How was it demonstrated?
Take time for reflection and discussion about the obedience God is calling you to. Maybe it’s obedience in “small” things, maybe it’s something big. Talk about the connection between waiting and obedience. How might you grow in your obedience to God?
