- Read Genesis 1-2 and respond to the following:
- Compare/contrast the way man was made with the rest of creation. Why does this matter?
- Why was man placed in the garden? What was his role?
- Why did the man need a helper? Why did God make this helper from the man? What does “naked and unashamed” mean?
- Read Matthew 19:1-12 and respond to the following:
- Why did Jesus begin his response to the Pharisees by quoting Genesis 2:24? What does this say about Jesus’ view and value of marriage?
- Jesus seems to not only acknowledge that being single is alright, but to affirm and even encourage it. Why, then, do we seem to place such a high value on marriage?
- Read 1 Corinthians 7, dividing it into 4 section, and respond to the following:
- Verses 1-7- Summarize into 3-5 sentences what Paul is saying.
- Verses 8-9- Compare/contrast this with Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:1-12.
- Verses 10-16- Summarize into 3-5 sentences what Paul is saying.
- Verses 17-24- Paul seems to be answering the question, “How do I live my life after I become a believer?”. Summarize Pauls’ response in 3-5 sentences.
- Verses 24-40- Summarize what Paul is saying.
- Read Ephesians 5:21-33 and respond to the following:
- Spend a few minutes paraphrasing (writing in your own words) these verses.
- For some, this can be an offensive message- why do you think this is?
- When you are bothered by something the Bible says, how do you typically respond? Why?
- Read Genesis 1-2 and respond to the following:
