Pastors Joe and John talk a bit more from Sunday’s message at WestWay Christian Church. You’ll find last Sunday’s message here.
Q1: “Perhaps this is the wrong question for this message of open handed love but it surfaced as a tension for me as I listened to your talk. Why would we continue to accept the “messiness” of our own lives or other’s lives with open arms? Transformation is a fruit of salvation, yes? Where do boundaries come in here? I don’t think you were saying love means complacently accepting everyone’s bad behavior but please clarify. I “thought” I heard you say that we should not judge those who act or dress differently or….and instead welcome them into the church. It seems like you mentioned the need for us to welcome in/minister to those addicted to substance or money etc. I “thought” I heard a reference to open arms/open heart approach.”
Q2: “Should we think any differently about passages of scripture like Mark 16:9-19 and John 7:53-8:11 And others that mention they were not included in early manuscripts? When were they added and why does it matter?”
